Wednesday was a “free” day, so the Tandem Spirits did what we most love to do: we went on a wonderful bicycling adventure. We contacted Bear Bicycle Centerin Andalo and arranged a 3-hour tour with a guide. After going to the tour center and getting our e-mountain bikes, we met our guide, Giobbe Galizzi. He was a wonderful guide because he listened carefully to what we wanted to do. He realized that we’re seasoned tandem cyclists, but this is very different from the type of cycling one does in the mountains. He took us to some truly beautiful places south of Andalo!
Lake Molveno
Lake Molveno is about 10 kilometers south of Andalo and is a very popular destination. It’s more of a summer resort. It also has some sandy beaches which are quite beautiful.
Nembia Lake
Giobbe then took us to a smaller lake called Nembia Lake which isn’t as well-know as Molvena. Known for its emerald green color, it’s a fisherman’s delight as there are some really big trout in its waters; however, one half of the lake is protected so you can’t fish that side.
San Lorenzo Dorsino
And then Giobbe took us down some back roads that were composed of large cobblestones which were a bit challenging. Along the way we stopped in some truly sublime spots. There was the little church below. There were some women there harvesting fragrant flowers from the trees called tiglio (Linden trees). Out of respect, I didn’t take their pictures.
Then just a short distance down the road, there was a farm that had alpacas and some large rabbits. Also, if you look carefully at the picture, you’ll see a camel!
Alpacas, Rabbits and Camels...OH MY!
THE MILL (IL MOLINO) - San Lorenzo Dorsino
Then Giobbe tooks further down the hill and we came to a spot that was truly stunning. The pictures below show an abandoned mill right next to a waterfall. Encountering these kinds of places by bike are sublime experiences.
Giobbe was a great guide and he made our trip to Andalo truly special!
