This last Monday, May 4th, we were finally released from a total pandemic lock-down. The lock-down began on March 8th so we’ve waited anxiously to finally leave our apartment and go out for a walk! We live in the historic center of Foligno, Italy which lies in the heart of Italy, literally. Our region, Umbria, is right in the center of Italy and Foligno is in the middle of Umbria. This is why it’s referred to as “Il centro del mondo” or the center of the world!
The bridge in the picture above is very close to our apartment and in the foreground is the Topino river (the little mouse river). We took the opportunity today to walk through town and then headed west where we crossed over Ponte San Magno where I took these shots:
We truly live in a beautiful place here in Italy, but sometimes we take it for granted. Now that the world has opened up again, and we can freely move about, it was truly amazing to simply walk along the riverside today and take in the sounds and breath in some fresh air. A simple adventure along the Topino River!
