This was the first weekend we’ve had since March 8th that we were not in quarantine because of the COVID contagion. It was nice to be able to wander around or small town. We live in the historic center of Foligno, a town that, in Roman times, was used as a base for training Roman soldiers.

We live in an apartment which is literally a 2-3 minute walk from restaurants, butchers, green grocers, a huge number of churches and all sorts of small shops. For this post, I just wanted you to see a few highlights from our stroll in the historic center.

We really like this fountain. Here’s a snippet from the Umbria tourism website:

“The fountain is located on the site of the 17th century Rodati Palace, destroyed by the bombardment in March 1944, and combines in a hourglass-shaped travertine block elements of bronze, Guatemala stone and water.

At its base there is the engraving “Everyone builds the victory of peace”.

The artwork is the showpiece of the Czech sculptor Ivan Theimer who specializes in using bronze and generally produces sculptures with a solid classical impact.”

We have a beautiful park here in Foligno called Parco dei Canapè. It was really nice to wander through the park.
